Crystal Headpin Bail

Add a designer touch and a little extra sparkle to any pendant by using a Crystal Rhinestone Headpin to make a bail to hang the pendant!  Here's how:
  • Select a favorite pendant and one 1.5" long Crystal Rhinestone Headpin (our sample uses a 24mm Swarovski Crystal DeArte Pendant in Crystal Orchid paired with a Rose crystal headpin made of Sterling Silver.)
  • Insert the headpin through the front of the pendant toward through to the back.
  • Using the tips of your chain nose pliers, hold the headpin just behind the pendant and bend the headpin upward ~ this will create a space that you will need to complete the bail.  It also protects the crystal pendant from abrasion.
  • Bend the headpin over your round nose pliers and back down towards the crystal rhinestone on the front of the pendant.  The wire of the headpin must extend below the crystal rhinestone.
  • Hold the loop at the top with your flat nose pliers while at the same time use your chain nose pliers to wrap the end of the headpin behind the crystal rhinestone.  Two wraps will be secure.
  • Clip off any excess wire not used in the wraps.

Design tip ~ Practice with a plain headpin of the same gauge with a small bead in place of the crystal until you feel comfortable doing the wraps!
