Mimi's Gems participated in the Music and Blossom Festival in Cañon City, Colorado on May 5 and 6, 2007. Cañon City has a rich history of festivals, with the first recorded mention of a festival dating back to 1860! The Cañon City Music and Blossom festival includes a Music Festival, a pageant and the crowning of the Blossom Queen, a Parade ~ complete with floats and marching bands ~ a 5K race, a Rodeo, and a Craft Fair complete with a food court and all those yummy festival favorite foods like Funnel Cakes and Ribbon Fries! Cañon City's normal population of about 20,000 residents swells to up to 60,000 at Festival time! Folks come from all over to attend the Festival ~ even from out of state!
Mimi's Gems participated as part of the Craft Fair in Veterans Park from 9 am to 5 pm both days of the Festival. Although our normal business is to sell beads and jewelry making supplies to customers wishing to make their own jewelry, at the Craft Fair we sold finished jewelry, with "Buds and Bugs" as our primary theme, complimenting the Blossom Festival. So most of our jewelry related to flowers, leaves, butterflies, dragonflies, ladybugs, etc., with just enough "bling" to make everything sparkle!
