The "Mesh Around" choker necklace design appears in the May 2006 issue of BeadStyle Magazine and Mimi's Gems is listed as the source for WireLace™. We were excited to see this new use of WireLace and created some designs of our own:
In creating these designs, we came up with some tips to pass on. Most 3 strand clasps have rather small attachment rings. We found that the addition of jump rings to the attachment rings gave a little extra room for the WireLace to go through and improved the drape of the finished design. Here's a close-up showing the use of the jump rings:
For a tip sheet you can download and print out, that includes the colors used in both the magazine necklace as well as those we made, click here. For general information on working with WireLace, click here.
On these pages we have tried to gather together everything you need to make your necklace. Please scroll down and check both pages to see everything available. The supply list for this necklace is:
6 pieces of WireLace, 4 feet long each for a total of 24 feet. BeadStyle suggests using 4 colors. Using 5 or 6 colors is also attractive (and they do it in the magazine!) Select 6 pieces, each 4 feet long in your chosen combination of colors.
A three-strand clasp. One that latches securely is recommended.
12 seed beads size 6/0 (4mm) for the ends of the WireLace (we sell these by the strand, for a selection CLICK HERE
Optional: 6 jump rings, size 4mm or 4.5mm (see our Tip Sheet) to match your clasp color
